MASTERCLASS - Harnessing Personal Values
Every individual has a unique set of personal values, which helps them to understand who they are and what motivates them. In general, people are highly motivated to act in ways that express their values. If they are for some external reasons forced to act against their values, this will impact their well-being and motivation negatively. Therefore, understanding each other’s values is important in the mentor/mentee relationship to create a healthy and respectful approach to each other and a solid foundation for learning from and with each other. Likewise, awareness of your own values, and being consistent and transparent around them will contribute to greater acceptance and appreciation among employees and will lubricate the social fabric within the organisation.
In this masterclass we will provide mentors with
- Insight into their own core values.
- An approach to help their mentees identify their own values.
- Help understand how these values influence their perception of themselves, their decisions and their behaviours.
Our values are affected by culture, upbringing and life experiences, among other factors.
This masterclass will provide leaders/mentors with insight into their own core values as well as an approach to help their mentees identify their own values and how these values influence their perception of themselves, their decisions and their behaviours.

- Opportunity to explore the link between values and behaviours.
- Identify your own core values and their practical applications in a 5 step process.
- Confidence to apply the learning with own mentee and direct reports.
Format and time to complete: This masterclass includes prework (an e-learning module) of approx. 30 minutes and an online workshop of 2 hours, with presentation, plenary discussion and breakouts.
Masterclass Facilitator: Laurence Cassøe Halsted
Laurence is a former elite athlete, in the sport of fencing. He competed for the Great Britain team in two Olympic Games, in London 2012 and Rio 2016. After hanging up his swords he continued to work in sport as both a high performance director and director of mentoring. Now he is a performance consultant and coach. Laurence brings with him a wealth of experience and passion for mentoring in all its forms.
